In the City...

Poolside Park offers swimming pool facilities, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, and two picnic shelters for summer use, and playground equipment for children.

Memorial Park offers a quiet place to enjoy the flowers and trees as well as playground equipment for small children.

A ball park complex offers the community two ball fields for baseball and softball. One is equipped with lights for evening use. The complex is used by all ages, especially Osmond's Summer Youth Program, an adult-supervised youth program for children of all ages.

Osmond's Rodeo Arena lies to the north of the ball park. Summer activities include roping, riding, and team penning.

Downtown Osmond offers:

• a 6-lane bowling alley with bowling for all ages,
• a public library, which serves young and old alike, and
• a Senior Citizen Center with entertainment for the older citizen on a daily basis.

In the Area...

Within a 15-minute drive of Osmond, you will find four 9-hole golf courses for your summer golfing enjoyment.

The area surrounding Osmond offers some of the best upland game bird hunting anywhere. The pheasant is king, but partridge, quail, and turkey are also plentiful.

White-tail deer hunting is also popular in the Osmond area. Rifle, archery, and black powder seasons are offered.

Willowcreek State Recreation Area - Located twelve miles south of Osmond, this recreational area features a 700-acre lake, 4 boat ramps, fishing, horse trails, shelters, playground, archery range, hiking trails, snowmobiling, shower building, 83 camping pads (64 with electrical hookups), RV, tents and beach. A park permit is needed.

Northeast Nebraska Zoo - Located thirty miles west of Osmond, this zoo has a nice display where visitors can view monkeys, apes, carnivores, birds, reptiles, and more. The main attraction is Reuben, the chimpanzee who has been taught sign language.

Grove Lake Wildlife Management Area - Located west of Osmond on Highway 20, this wildlife area covers 1,500 acres. Excellent fishing, hunting, and camping area features one of the only trout streams in Northeast Nebraska with excellent rainbow trout fishing in the winter months.

Ashfall Fossil Beds - This is an opportunity to get a detailed glimpse of pre-historic Nebraska and the ability to observe paleontologists at work in this historical park located west and north of Royal, Nebraska.

Lewis & Clark Lake - Lewis & Clark Lake is situated on the Missouri River between Nebraska and South Dakota near Yankton, South Dakota. All types of water sports are available ranging from fishing, water skiing, sail boating, jet skiing and power boating. The Visitor's Center, located 10 miles north of Crofton, Nebraska, near Gavin's Point Dam, is a popular stopping point. The Center overlooks the Dam, Lewis & Clark Lake, and the Missouri River.

Niobrara State Park - Near the confluence of the Missouri and Niobrara Rivers is a 1,649-acre park that offers recreation, relaxation, and a chance to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the area.

Ponca State Park - This Park, located in the wooded bluffs of the Missouri River, is an 800 acre wonderland offering 17 miles of walking trails, horseback riding, camping, and picnicking. You can take a ride on the actual Lewis and Clark trail and enjoy the view of three states from the ridges above the river.
